The 95th Academy Awards saw the world witness a showstopper ensemble cast. It also marked a grand celebration of the entire RRR team, who created history at the Oscars in 2023. As the film’s track Naatu Naatu lifted the gleaming trophy, Ram Charan’s wife Upasana Kamineni was also present to cheer and support her husband. Team.
Ditching the good old gown, Upasana walked the red carpet in a classic white silk saree. While she successfully breathed with her beauty, her ruby red lilium necklace got all the attention it deserved. But did you know, the spectacular necklace took almost four years to come into existence and has been made using “approximately 400 carats of high quality rubies”.
Not only that but those “high quality rubies cannot be recreated”. On Tuesday, Upasana shared another series of pictures giving another glimpse of her look at the Oscars. Upasana wrote a long caption, elaborating further thanking Jayanthi Reddy and Bina Goenka for making her look beautiful on the red carpet.
She began by revealing that for the 95th Academy Awards, she wore a “hand-woven silk saree” with a lacy border. Upasana wrote, “Jayanti Reddy and Bina Goenka created a traditional, elegant and bespoke look for me at the 95 Academy Awards – Oscars 2023. Made from recycled scraps keeping in mind my belief in sustainable fashion.”
Talking about her mesmerizing necklace, Upasana revealed that Bina Goenka’s masterpiece was “made using the highest quality of natural gemstones like pearls”. She wrote, “The intricately crafted statement Lilium neck piece, has been in the making for the past four years by avant-garde Mumbai-based jewelery designer, Bina Goenka. It was created with impeccable craftsmanship, using the highest quality of pearl natural gems and approximately 400 carats of high-quality rubies that cannot be recreated. He concluded by appreciating the “labour of love” behind such a stunning necklace and the “intricate attention to detail”.
Upasana further added, “I truly appreciate the hard work, dedication, passion and labor of love that has gone into creating these beautiful creations for me. It’s the intense attention to detail that sets this look apart from the rest.
Talking about Ram Charan’s red carpet look, the RRR star looked dapper as he stylishly complemented his wife’s white outfit with his black sherwani. Ram Charan’s three-piece velvet ensemble featured a bandhgala collar, padded shoulders and full-length sleeves. Its front gold-toned button closure and a stylish brooch added the perfect touch of sparkle.
