A man who was declared brain dead in Odisha saved the lives of four people through organ transplant. The man had told his wife that after his death his organs would be donated to needy people.

Prosenjit Mohanty, a resident of Odisha, was declared brain dead on 23 June. However, before his death, the man had expressed his desire to donate organs to those in need.

A team of 20 doctors successfully retrieved both the kidneys, lungs and liver, which were then airlifted to Cuttack, Kolkata and Delhi and transplanted to needy people.

Kidney was transplanted to a patient in Odisha, Lung in Kolkata and Liver in Delhi.
