Opposition pulled up on IPS officer Mohammad Mustafa’s statement in Malerkotla, BJP said playing in the hands of ISI

BJP On Saturday, former Punjab IPS officer Mohammad Mustafa, who was the principal strategic advisor to Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, was accused of allegedly making provocative remarks against a community at a public meeting in Malerkotla.

However, Mustafa, husband of Punjab cabinet minister Razia Sultana, who is the Congress candidate from the Muslim-majority district of Malerkotla, vehemently denied the allegation.

A purported video of Mustafa was shared by BJP leaders Sambit Patra and Shazia Ilmi on their Twitter handle.

Punjab BJP general secretary Subhash Sharma said that his party will file a complaint against Mustafa with the Election Commission demanding registration of a case against him.

Aam Aadmi Party Leader Raghav Chadha also slammed Mustafa for his remarks and alleged that the Congress was trying to disturb the atmosphere in the state nearing the state assembly elections. Addressing the media here, BJP national spokesperson Shazia Ilmi alleged that Mustafa used the word ‘Hindu’ in his remarks.

The purported video clip played by the BJP at a press conference in which Mustafa was heard saying at a public meeting in Malerkotla on January 20, “I swear to God that I will not allow him to organize any programme. I am a Qaumi Fauji (community soldier)… I am not an RSS agent who will hide in the house out of fear. If they try to do this again, I swear to Allah, I will kill them in their homes….”

However, Mustafa denied using the word “Hindus” and said that he had only targeted Aam Aadmi Party workers, some of them allegedly following him and trying to harass him.

Mustafa said that he had gone to a program of some Congress workers which was taking place at a nearby place and warned AAP workers.

Referring to Mustafa’s alleged remarks, BJP spokesperson Shazia Ilmi termed it as “extremely shameful”. He said, “The whole spirit of secularism of Congress has been exposed once again.

Mustafa was an IPS officer. He said that he has taken oath of the constitution of the country and worked as the DGP of the state. “Should they be allowed to say this as part of an election rally,” she asked. He alleged that it was clearly hate speech and was unconstitutional.

BJP General Secretary Tarun Chugh took strong objection to Mustafa’s remark and demanded from the party leaders Sonia Gandhi And Rahul Gandhi Clean the stand Chugh alleged that Mustafa was trying to spread communal hatred in Punjab. He accused both Sidhu and Mustafa of playing in the hands of Pakistan’s ISI.

AAP’s Chadha said that Congress leaders are making such provocative statements to disturb the peace of Punjab and such statements are against Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiyat.

Mustafa has given such a statement only at the behest of the Chief Minister. Charanjit Singh Channi and Sidhu. Such statements reflect the thinking of the Congress party and its leaders.

Meanwhile, accusing the Punjab Congress of posing a serious threat to national security, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh also said that both Navjot Singh Sidhu and Mustafa are playing in the hands of Pakistan’s ISI.
