Chandimal suggested that Surya’s ouster reflects India’s strong bench strength.

Former Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal feels that Suryakumar Yadav should be included in India’s ODI playing XI after his consistent performances with the bat in T20Is. The flamboyant middle-order batsman is finding it difficult to break into the ODI XI in the ongoing series against Sri Lanka. The team management has preferred Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul over him in the first two ODIs.

With Rahul at No.5 in the gloves and Hardik Pandya at No.6 the automatic choice as a fast bowling all-rounder, India’s only ‘Mr 360 Degree’ will have to wait for his turn despite his stellar T20I performances. Cricket.

Chandimal suggested that Surya’s ouster reflects India’s strong bench strength.

He said, ‘Looking at this Indian team, it is known that there is so much strength in the bench. I still think Surya can play in the middle order in this Indian team.

The former Sri Lankan batsman said that Surya has the ability to frustrate the opposition with his wide range of shot-making along with the ability to score quick runs that can change the complexion of the game in no time.

He is different from other batsmen. You need a player like him in the middle order. He can change the game just by scoring 30 to 50 runs. The pace at which he scores runs can frustrate the opposition. I still think he should play in ODIs.”

Having already lost the series 0-2, Chandimal wants Dasun Shanaka and his boys to play positive cricket.

“It’s hard to play India in India but he should play positively in every department.”

“ILT20 will be my comeback vehicle”

Chandimal said that a league like ILT20 would give him an opportunity to showcase his skills once again and make a comeback in the national team.

Chandimal said, ‘I am surprised by the way he played in India. It is outstanding. I am sure one of the (IPL) teams will pick him up in the future. He is a player who can change the course of the game in a short span of time.” Shanaka played a match-winning inning of 56 not out in the second T20I. He also took 2 wickets in this match.
