‘Oppenheimer’ Breaks Records With 90,000 Advance Bookings, Check Out Numbers For ‘Barbie’

New Delhi: The box office is already flooded with advance bookings for two of the most awaited films of the year. Cillian Murphy’s ‘Oppenheimer’ is all set to clash with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling-starrer ‘Barbie’. Meanwhile, the advance bookings for these films started weeks ago and have received an overwhelming response.

According to trade analysts, The Oppenheimer has seen remarkable ticket sales ahead of its release, with 90,000 tickets already sold across three major theater chains for its opening day. Barbie, on the other hand, has also generated a lot of interest, with 16,000 tickets sold on its first day.

Oppenheimer’s announcement came shortly after Nolan’s last film, The Tenet, was released in theaters during the pandemic. This was a rare occurrence in Nolan’s filmography as the film received mixed reviews from critics and some fans. A large number of people also complained about the sound quality of the film but still it managed to pull a large number of people to the theatres. The film will be released on the big screen on 21 July 2023.

Barbie, on the other hand, is directed by Gerwig from a script the “Lady Bird” and “Little Women” filmmaker co-wrote with Noah Baumbach.

In 2019, Robbie shared with Variety’s Marc Malkin the importance of bringing Barbie to life on screen. “I think this is a great opportunity to bring some positivity into the world and for young kids to be aspirational,” he added.
