opinion | How ISI’s nefarious conspiracy to carry out serial blasts in Delhi, Mumbai, UP was foiled

Delhi Police Special Cell and Intelligence Bureau with the help of UP ATS foiled the conspiracy of Pakistan’s spy agency ISI and Dawood Ibrahim gang to carry out serial blasts in Delhi, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh during Ramlila, Navratri and Dussehra festival on Tuesday. done. . The Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested six operatives of a terror module and recovered several RDX-based IEDs, grenades, Beretta pistols and cartridges. So far one kg of RDX explosives have been seized.

The six terrorists are Jaan Mohammad Sheikh alias Sameer Kalia of Mumbai, Osama alias Sami of Jamia Nagar in Delhi, Moolchand alias Shaju of Rae Bareli, Zeeshan Qamar of Prayagraj, Mohammad Abu Bakr of Bahraich and Mohammad Amir of Lucknow’s Bakshi Talab. Javed is All these were caught during raids in Delhi and several cities of UP. Explosives and weapons were seized from Prayagraj.

Inquiries revealed that Osama had left for Muscat, Oman on April 22 on a Salaam Air flight from Lucknow, where he met Zeeshan Qamar, who had also come to attend training. In Muscat, the two Indians met 15 to 16 Bangladeshis, who were later divided into sub-groups. Osama and Zeeshan were placed in a group.

Osama and Zeeshan were taken in small boats from Muscat, Oman to the town of Jiwani near Gwadar port by sea, where they were received by a Pakistani official and taken to a farmhouse in Thatta in Sindh province, official sources said. There were three Pakistanis in the farmhouse. Two of them, Hamza and Jabbar, dressed in Pakistani Army uniforms, trained them for 15 days using AK-47 rifles and making improvised explosive devices using items of daily use.

Both these Pakistani soldiers were acting on the instructions of a lieutenant or major rank ISI officer. Two trained terrorists were assigned the task of reconnaissance and had selected the locations for planting the IEDs. Osama was arrested from Okhla and Mohammad Abu Bakr was arrested by Sarai Kale Khan. Zeeshan Wamar, Amir Javed and Moolchand alias Saju were arrested with the help of the UP Anti-Terrorism Squad.

Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Anees Ibrahim in IED was instrumental in transporting grenades, pistols and cartridges to India through his operatives, officials said. Explosives and weapons were sent to Prayagraj for safekeeping.

Jan Mohammad Sheikh and Moolchand alias Shaju were tasked to hand over these explosives and weapons to terrorists for use in Delhi, Mumbai and other places in UP. Police said the explosives were supposed to be used during festivals near large gatherings.

Indian officials said Thatta, east of Karachi, is the same place where 26/11 Mumbai terror attack accused Ajmal Kasab was trained by the ISI and the elite force of the Pakistani Navy, the Special Service Group. Officials said that earlier Pakistan used the route to Dubai to bring potential terrorists for training, but Oman has been used for the first time. Also, for the first time after the 1993 Mumbai blasts, Dawood’s underworld gang was seen colluding with the ISI to carry out these deadly serial blasts during the festive season this year.

Two conclusions emerge from the information provided by Indian security officials.

One, it is now easier for the ISI to radicalize Indian youth, to call them to foreign soil and from there to take them to Pakistan for training in the use of rifles and explosives. Since crossing the Line of Control on the India-Pakistan border is difficult due to tight surveillance by the BSF and the Army over the years, the ISI has preferred the air route.

Second, since the network of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba has weakened, the ISI has chosen the help of Dawood’s underground gang. Delhi Police, UP ATS and intelligence agencies need to pat their back for foiling this sinister conspiracy in time.
