Opera Like Microsoft Now Ready To Bring ChatGPT To Its Products

Last Update: February 10, 2023, 20:57 IST

Opera is all set to enter the AI chatbot arena by using the popular ChatGPT in its products. The integration will happen later this year and the company hasn’t exactly talked about the details of its plans for the AI chatbot.

The fact that Opera wants to harness the potential of ChatGPT hardly comes as a surprise. It is because of the confidence vote that Microsoft has given Open AI by investing billions and recently integrating ChatGPT into Bing and Microsoft Edge browsers. Opera’s parent company Kunlun Tech confirmed the plan, saying that all of its products would integrate with ChatGPT, which is likely to include Opera.

Opera has a variety of web browsers on the market, and like Microsoft Edge, we expect ChatGPT to leave its mark on the Opera browser and some of the other products the company has to offer.

To be fair, Opera isn’t among the top choices of web browsers these days, with a small share among peers. Google is the leader in this segment with Chrome but when you talk of Opera, the browser lags behind even Mozilla Firefox and Samsung’s internet browser.

We have already seen what the integration of ChatGPT can do for a product like Bing which has been around for years but could not compete with the likes of Google in the search arena. Now, with ChatGPT, Bing has gone on a waiting list of people eager to try out the new experience offered by the search engine.

Opera also has other non-browser products but we are not sure how ChatGPT can enhance its profile, performance and image in any way. Apple is still the big absence from all the AI talk lately. The company has reportedly held a secret meeting with its employees to assess its preparedness in the AI segment, but we will have to wait till WWDC 2023 later this year to know more about the company’s plans.
