Bhubaneswar: AIIMS Bhubaneswar will close its walk-in OPD (Outpatient Department) Services temporarily from January 17 in view of the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state. Over 156 hospital staff have tested positive for COVID-19 during the current wave.
However, the indoor inpatient department in the hospital will continue (IPD) services, trauma and emergency services, day care, radiotherapy, dialysis, emergency and life saving surgery, telemedicine and tele-consultation services, anesthesiology (PAC and pain clinic), immunization for chronically registered patients and COVID vaccination service.
Patients who have already registered online can visit the respective departments by showing their online booking number at the entrance. They will be entitled to enter the hospital premises with only one attendant (there may be two in case of emergency). The hospital has asked its security staff not to allow any media person inside OPD and IPD without prior permission of the authorities.
Official sources said that regular screening of patients will continue through AIIMS Bhubaneswar. health app and telemedicine. Unless necessary, all departments will limit the physical call of patients to the OPD.
