According to the NTA report, at the Hooghly event, a male candidate came wearing “cargo trousers and formal covered boots” against the dress code.

NTA officials also said that they had cross-checked with the video footage and some of the claims were from previous years’ tests.

According to media reports, at a center in Sangli, Mumbai, female candidates were searched openly or forced to change clothes before appearing for the exam.

“Internal inquiry found that the allegations coming from Sangli are also not correct… During the search by the lady attendant in a closed room earmarked for girls, a beep was heard by the metal detector in case of girl candidate. Thereafter, a lady search representative posted in that area requested the girl candidate to wear top properly after thorough search.

Describing the Hooghly incident, the report said, “…the incident took place at around 12:30 p.m. A male candidate was in cargo trousers and formal covered boots. The search team and the school team stopped him because he was arguing… he was arguing constantly. Later, however, he was allowed to enter, and no further problems arose.

Later the incident was blown up by the candidate. As per the report of the invigilator and center superintendent, no student was asked to change the dress.”
