Ajinkya Rahane turned 34 on Monday and the Maharashtra-born cricketer was greeted by the cricket fraternity on his birthday.
Virender Sehwag called Rahane “one of the lowest rated cricketers”.
“One of the most underrated cricketers, and the man who took the lead” India For his biggest overseas Test series win of all time. Happy birthday Ajinkya Rahane. May God give you the strength to fight every challenge,” wrote Sehwag in the caption.
Sehwag was of course talking about Team India’s massive win against Australia in the 2020-21 Test series Down Under. Rahane was the captain of the team which achieved unmatched success.

Cheteshwar Pujara posted a picture of himself with Rahane on Twitter and wrote, “Wishing you a very happy birthday brother Ajinkya Rahane. Wishing you happiness and success in the coming year. Enjoy your day!”

Harbhajan Singh posted a picture with Rahane. In the caption, Harbhajan wrote, ‘Happy Birthday Ajinkya Rahane. keep smiling. Have a wonderful year ahead.”

Former India vice-captain Rahane is currently facing poor form. Rahane was dropped from the Test squad after the Test series against South Africa earlier this year. He was not part of the Indian team in the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.
Rahane failed to find a place in the team in that series along with another experienced Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara. Both Rahane and Pujara were demoted to the Board of Control Cricket (BCCI) Central Contract in India. The experienced batsmen were moved from Grade A to Grade B in March this year.
Pujara has returned to the squad for the Test match against England, thanks to his stellar batting performances for Sussex in county cricket. Rahane, however, failed to make it to the Indian Test team.
In IPL In the 2022 season, Rahane started his campaign for Kolkata Knight Riders on a positive note but eventually lost his form and suffered a hamstring injury. Overall, in the 15th season of IPL, Rahane scored 133 runs in seven matches.
