One of Mumbai’s most wanted gangsters was arrested by Karnataka Police in the early hours of Tuesday. According to the information, the gangster has been identified as Ilyas Abdul Asif alias Bhakana. Police said the accused was wanted by the Mumbai Police in 37 serious offenses – murder, attempt to murder, extortion, robbery and drug dealing.

A special operation was launched after the team led by Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Vamsi Krishna, Additional SP Lakshmi Ganesh and Anekal Deputy SP M Mallesh got information about the accused man residing in a private restaurant.

The accused was carrying a loaded gun at the time of arrest, but the team overpowered him.

Police have recovered four live bullets, one pistol, 15 SIM cards and six mobile phones from the accused.

The accused was also wanted in a case of attacking businessman Sikandar Raju Luladia with an iron rod at his office in Mumbai.

Abdul was hiding in Karnataka after Mumbai Police intensified his search in the city and other parts of Maharashtra.
