Once Unable To Pay College Fees, They Are Now Cas | Surat News – Times of India

Surat: At least 28 poor students who once counted pennies to pay their college fees, have overcome their financial hardships to become successful chartered accountants.
They are among the 40-odd students who had appeared in the recent CA exam and were helped by their coach Ravi Chhavchharia not only with CA studies but scholarship, accommodation and food too under the CA Star programme. In addition, 30 of the same program cleared the CA foundation exams.
Jigar Jadav (23), a resident of Udhna area, wanted to pursue CA after receiving 88 percent in Class XII. But it was a dream that was out of his parents’ — father Bharat as textile laborer and mother Leela, a maid — reach and they expressed their inability.
Meanwhile, Jadav came to know about Chhavchharia, a CA, who offers free coaching to students who are financially weak.
“My dream to become a CA was fulfilled only because of the scholarship. Now, I want to make my career in the banking sector,” Jadav said.
Urvashi Pandya, who too cleared her finals said, “I was 11 when my father passed away. My mother started tiffin service to help us continue our studies. I came to know about the scholarship from my brother’s friend and I received quality education without any discrimination. Today, I became a CA only thanks to the support,” said pandya adding that she was not asked to sign any bond for the free education and will personally strive to help others become CAs too.
Sarthak Byakud (18), who cleared CA foundation, said, “I belong to Karnataka state. My father was a postmaster who died due to Covid. I thought my dream to become a CA would end there. That was when I found out about the institute and I contacted them. They invited me to study and not only provided me with free coaching but also free accommodation and meals too.”
Chhavchharia told TOI, “These were from our first batch of CA stars who cleared the finals. Our motto is to give 400 CAs within the next 10 years from financially poor families. We urge bright students to contact us if they dream of becoming a CA.”
