Filmmaker Karan Johar has urged everyone to “don’t forget to exercise your right to vote” on National Voters’ Day.

“India is the largest democracy in the world and everyone has the right to vote. Tomorrow, January 25 is National Voters’ Day and on that occasion, I want to remind everyone in advance not to forget to exercise your right to vote,” said Johar.

The Election Commission (EC) observes the 12th National Voters’ Day on 25 January with the theme ‘Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participatory’, and focuses on the commitment of the Election Commission to facilitate active participation of voters during elections. . The process of hassle free and a memorable experience for all categories of voters.

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu was the chief guest on the occasion but as he could not attend the function his message would be delivered virtually during the ceremony.

To mark the occasion, the National Awards for Best Electoral Practices for the year 2021-22 are presented to State and District level officers for their outstanding performance in the conduct of elections in various areas like IT Initiatives, Security Management, Election Management. will be done. Contribution in the field of smooth elections and voter awareness and outreach.

National Awards will also be given on the occasion to important stakeholders like Government Departments, Election Commission icons and media groups for their contribution towards voter awareness.

During the ceremony, newly enrolled voters will also be felicitated and handed over their Voter’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC). The commission recently launched a new initiative to deliver Epic to newly enrolled voters with a personalized letter and a voter guidebook.

A National Voter Awareness Competition – ‘Mera Vote is my future – the power of one vote’ will also be launched on social media to reiterate the importance of every vote through constructive expression for the ongoing Assembly Elections 2022.

Since 2011, National Voters’ Day has been celebrated on 25 January every year across the country to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India i.e. 25 January 1950.
