Cases will increase in January in Maharashtra

A senior official of the Public Health Department said on Wednesday that Maharashtra is likely to see more cases of the Omicron variant in January next year. The Omicron variant of Corona is spreading rapidly in the world and Maharashtra may see an increase in infected cases in January next year. Dr. Pradeep Vyas, Additional Chief Secretary, Public Health Department of Maharashtra, while giving a presentation at the Maharashtra Cabinet meeting in Mumbai, said that cases of Omicron infection will be found in rural areas as well as in cities.

Total 68 cases in the country now

The total number of patients infected with the Omicron variant in the country has gone up to 68. Of these, Maharashtra is the most affected state where a total of 32 cases have been found so far. On the other hand, Rajasthan is at second place with 17 cases. Apart from this, there are two cases in Gujarat (four), Karnataka (three), Kerala (one), Andhra Pradesh (one), Telangana, one each in West Bengal and Chandigarh and six in Delhi. The increasing infection from the new variant has also increased the concern of the government. Restrictions extended till January 15 in Bengal
