Omicron India cases: Tally rises to 781, maximum infections at 238 in Delhi, 167 in Mumbai

India has so far reported 781 cases of the omicron version of the coronavirus in 21 states and union territories, of which 241 people have been cured or migrated, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday. The ministry said that active cases comprise 0.22 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.40 per cent, the highest since March 2020. The active COVID-19 caseload has registered an increase of 1,546 cases in a 24-hour period.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It had crossed 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October. , 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and crossed the one crore mark on 19 December.
