Odisha: Vimsar yet to appoint doctors for new departments | Bhubaneswar News – Times of India

SAMBALPUR: Even after more than five months since the Odisha government gave its approval for five super-specialty departments to be launched at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of the Medical Sciences and Research (Vimsar), Burlano progress has been made in this regard.
The state government gave its approval for endocrinology, plastic surgery, pediatric surgery, gastroenterology and clinical hematology departments to be opened and also approved the appointment of a professor, an associate professor, an assistant professor and a senior resident for each in September last year.
The state government’s approval for the initiative was widely appreciated. But now local residents have expressed their displeasure over the stagant situation.
Vimsar director Lalit Meher said, “We will start paperwork to appoint doctors for the five new departments soon after the model code of conduct period ends.”
