According to officials, the Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express, the first high-speed passenger train after the triple train accident, passed on the restored tracks from Balasore on Monday morning.

He said that the Vande Bharat Express reached Bahanaga Bazar station on Monday at around 9.30 am.

Officials said Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav was present at the accident site and waved to the drivers when the semi-rapid train passed by.

Vaishnav said the repair work on both the up line and down line tracks got over on Sunday night.

Around 10.40 pm, a coal-laden goods train from Vizag Port to Rourkela Steel Plant crossed the same track.

At 7 pm on 2 June, the Coromandel Express collided with a stationary goods train, destroying most of its carriages.

The last coaches of the Bengaluru-Howrah Express, which was passing at the same time, were hit by some coaches of the Coromandel.

The three-train derailment may have been caused by human error, faulty signals, or other factors.
