Odisha: Boy commits suicide after parents stop him from playing mobile game

In a shocking incident, a 13-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide in Odisha’s Koraput district after his parents stopped him from playing a game on his mobile phone, police said on Wednesday. According to the police, the boy was studying in class VIII in a private school. In view of the Kovid-19 epidemic, he was attending online classes on his mobile phone.

Her parents had found her playing games on their mobile phones during online classes. Dhiren Patnaik, IIC of Koraput Town Police Station, said though his parents tried their best to persuade him, they ignored him. On Tuesday, when his parents snatched his mobile phone from him, the angry boy locked himself in a room. Patnaik said that he was later found hanging from the fan with the help of a sari.

He was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. “We have registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body for postmortem. We are waiting for the report,” Patnaik said.
