NZ Vs SL 1st Test Match: Kiwis Lose Five Quick Wickets on Day 2

NZ Vs SL 1st Test Match: New Zealand has lost five wickets on the second day

Even after a close win against England in Wellington last month, the home team has struggled in red-ball matches.

Tim Southee took five wickets and Neil Wagner took four to help the Kiwis bundle out Sri Lanka for 355 on the first day yesterday.

But the second day belonged to Sri Lanka as they picked up five wickets for just 162 runs on the board.

Kiwi openers, Latham and Conway started the innings well for the home side. Both shared a 67-run partnership for the first wicket.

But it was Asita Fernando who got the breakthrough for Lanka Tigers. Devon Conway got off to a good start of 30 runs.

Former New Zealand team red ball captain Kane Williamson was also the man of the match in the second Test against England which the Kiwis won by just one run.

But here he was dismissed for a low score and Henry Nicholls was also dismissed cheaply along with Tom Blundell.

Tom Latham was the top scorer for the Black Caps so far. He got out after scoring 67 runs.
