In Jharkhand’s Dumka district, a woman was paraded naked for an affair with a married man, stripped of clothes and wearing a garland of shoes around her neck. The police gave this information on Saturday.
He said that six people have been arrested in connection with the incident in Ranieshwar police station area of the district.
The woman, who is also married, had allegedly eloped with the man. A police officer said that when he was caught on Wednesday night, his wife’s relatives beat him up.
He said that after that his clothes were taken off and he walked around the village naked with a garland of shoes around his neck.
“Twelve people have been named in the FIR registered on Thursday. So far six people including the man and his wife have been arrested.
He told that the woman alleges that the accused snatched 25 thousand rupees from her.
An FIR has been registered under IPC sections 148 (rioting), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), 354B (assault) and 379 (theft), he said.
Efforts are on to arrest the remaining six accused, the official said. PTI
