NTPC to build India’s biggest solar power project in Gujarat – Times of India

New Delhi: State-run generation utility NTPCRenewable energy arm to set up India’s largest solar photovoltaic project Rann of Kutch in Gujarat’s Khawara, the company said on Tuesday.
A company statement said NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has received the approval of the Ministry of Renewable Energy for the construction of a project with a capacity of up to 4750 MW. NTPC Reliance The park will produce green hydrogen on a commercial scale.
The solar project is part of the parent’s plan to transform itself from the country’s largest coal burner to a green energy major. NTPC REL plans to generate green hydrogen on commercial scale from this park.

NTPC has a target of creating 60 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2032. The company now has 70 power plants with a total installed capacity of 66 GW and an additional 18 GW under construction.
NTPC has commissioned India’s largest floating solar power project of 10 MW on reservoir at its Simhadri Thermal Power Plant in Andhra Pradesh. An additional 15 MW will be commissioned by August.
Another 100 MW floating solar project on the reservoir of Ramagundam Thermal Plant is in an advanced stage of implementation.
