In an interview to PTI, Kumar said that CUET will not be limited to admissions only in central universities as several leading private universities have indicated that they would like to appear on the board to use common entrance test scores for undergraduate admissions . To start with CUET will be conducted once this year but NTA will consider to conduct the exam at least twice in a year from next session. Kumar had announced last week that CUET scores, not class 12 marks, would be mandatory for admission to 45 central universities and central universities may fix their own minimum eligibility criteria. When asked whether the exam would lead to a coaching culture for undergraduate admissions, Kumar said, “No coaching will be required for the exam, so there is no question of promoting a coaching culture.” The exam will be completely based on the class 12 syllabus. Many students are getting worried whether the exam will have questions from class 11 syllabus as well. Answer is not clear.
