NSDC, Jain University to Boost Students’ Employment Prospects

The Work-Integrated Learning Skills Program aims to provide on-the-job practical training and skill-based certificate and diploma programs to Indian youth.

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Jain (Deemed-to-be) University with their training assistants – Yuvshakti Kaushal India Pvt Ltd (YSI) and Deccan Management Consultants Finishing School (DMCFS) signed MoU to provide Work-Integrated Learning Skill Program (WILSP) to enhance employability of youth primarily from rural and tribal parts of India Are. Employability of youth will be increased by enrolling them in skill based certificate and diploma programs and providing them practical on-the-job training to make them self-reliant to earn livelihood.

The objective of the program is to promote employment prospects for school and dropout students, thereby helping them apply their academic knowledge in real life scenarios. It also provides an opportunity to network with peers and industry. The program has been designed under UGC (Earn and Learn Model) guidelines for multiple sectors, bridging the gap between education and the world of work.

Under WILSP, student-trainees will get sponsorship from industrial and commercial organisations. As per the syllabus, the duration of the program will be minimum 12 months and maximum 24 months. Student trainees will undergo on-the-job training as well as receive theoretical instruction through live classes or online through the learning management system. Student trainees will receive a stipend from the training facilitator during the period of on-the-job training and a certificate from NSDC and the University on completion of the programme.
