In the history of Punjab, there was never a Scheduled Caste Chief Minister. Jatt Sikhs always remained in the politics of the state. This time a voice was raised that in Punjab, the Scheduled Castes are confined to ministerial posts only. While about 31.94% of the population belongs to the Scheduled Castes. The BJP started it that if the government is formed, then a Scheduled Caste CM will be made. Akali chief Sukhbir Badal, who was desperate to form the government after 5 years in Punjab, announced the appointment of a Scheduled Caste Deputy CM. AAP kept saying that we have made the leader of opposition in the assembly only from the scheduled caste. Politics was intensifying on this.

With this the Congress took away everyone’s issue that they would make a Scheduled Caste candidate the Chief Minister. But Congress has already created history by making it the Chief Minister.

Road difficult for Congress

The road is also difficult for the Congress regarding the Hindu vote bank. After the departure of Captain Amarinder Singh, the Congress wanted to make Sunil Jakhar, the former Hindu face of Punjab Congress, as the CM. This was opposed by the Congress MLAs that there should be only Sikh face in Punjab. After this, Jakhar’s pain continued to spread on social media. Now they are running angry with the organization.

Captain Amarinder Singh was such a leader of Punjab, in whose name the Congress continued to get support in the cities. If they form a new party then this vote bank can go there.

The second reason is the breakdown of the Akali-BJP alliance. Earlier, on the pretext of BJP, Akali Dal also used to get Hindu vote bank. This time the Akali Dal is also worried, because their image is of the Sikh party in Punjab. For this reason Sukhbir Badal has announced to make Hindu Deputy CM. However, the Congress has failed his bet by making him a Jatt Sikh and a Hindu Deputy CM.
