Nothing Year 1 TWS earbuds price revealed, ANC support confirmed

Nothing’s first product, the Nothing Ear (1) truly wireless earbuds, will be priced at GBP 99, which is approximately Rs 10,200, founder and CEO Carl Pei has revealed in an interview. The former senior OnePlus executive also revealed that the upcoming TWS earbuds will feature noise cancellation (ANC), although other details remain unclear. The company had earlier confirmed its launch on July 27 at 14:00 BST (18:30 IST). It was revealed that the upcoming TWS earbuds will retail in India via Flipkart. Nothing will be expected of giants like Apple (AirPods), Samsung (Galaxy Buds), Bose, and the launch will formally mark the beginning of Pei’s venture after leaving OnePlus last October, a brand he called Co-founded with Pete. Come on The Nothing Ear (1) is teased with a transparent design.

During the latest interview with TechCrunch, p also clarified NothingAndroid co-creator Andy Rubin’s decision to acquire Essentials. “[B]Before we were called Nothing, ‘Essential’ was one of the names we were considering, internally… so we’ve acquired the trademark. We have no plans to do anything with the Essential.” The smartphone maker called off after releasing just one phone in early 2020. The interview doesn’t reveal India-specific pricing, though the earbuds cost Rs 10,000. In February 2021, nothing went hand-in-hand with Stockholm-based electronics maker Teenage Engineering to design the Year 1. Last month, Nothing announced the launch of the Year 1 earbuds beyond June will be extended as the company has “some things yet to be finalised. Nothing is backed by GV (formerly Google Ventures), iPod inventor Tony Fadell, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin and Cred founder Kunal Shah.
