Aurangabad: Citizens who have not taken the first dose of Kovid vaccine or who have missed the date of the second dose, will have to pay a fine of Rs 500 from 16 December.
Aurangabad The Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Monday made a formal announcement to this effect and said that legal action would be taken against those who did not pay.
Legal experts, however, have questioned the basis of the proposed action that COVID vaccination is voluntary.
“Nagrik Mitra Pathak – the special civilian squad already formed in Aurangabad – will join the crackdown on defaulters. Half of the recovered money will go to the city police and the rest to the local body,” said AMC administrator Astik Kumar Pandey.
The civil administration has warned that those who do not pay the fine will face action under IPC section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) along with provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
