‘Not Thinking About India Comeback’: Prithvi Shaw’s Prime Goal is to ‘Win Ranji Trophy’ For Mumbai

Prithvi Shaw’s 379 against Assam in the Ranji Trophy on Wednesday was not just a batting record in domestic cricket. It was the loudest bang at the selector’s door after being ignored for over a year. The Mumbai batsman has been scoring well in the last few domestic seasons but is yet to find the key to his comeback in the Indian dressing room. However, the youngster is not bothered about the call-up, instead, he wants to focus on bringing Ranji Trophy back into the Mumbai cabinet.

Shaw’s blistering performance comes just weeks before the all-important Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home, which will decide India’s fate whether they make it to the final or not. He said, ‘I am not even thinking whether someone will call me in the Indian team or not. I’m just trying to do my job as well as I can and not looking too far ahead. I am a person who likes to live one day at a time. I have to make my today right. I am playing for Mumbai and the target is to win the Ranji Trophy.

Prithvi scored 379 off just 383 balls with the help of four sixes and 49 fours before being trapped in front by all-rounder Riyan Parag. With this feat, he became the second highest individual scorer in Indian first-class cricket history after the legendary Bibi Nimbalkar. He has also broken Sanjay Manjrekar’s record of highest individual score for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy.
