Not only Messi and Mbappe, Google also broke a record last night

Messi, Mbappe and the FIFA World Cup final were among the top social media trends last evening

new Delhi:

Google search recorded “highest traffic ever in 25 years” during FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France CEO Sundar Pichai tweeted this morning, “It was like the whole world was searching about one thing Was!”

Lionel Messi-led Argentina defeated France in a nailbiter at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar last night. The match, which saw Argentina take an early lead, came to life after French striker Kylian Mbappe scored two goals in quick succession for his team’s brilliant comeback. What followed was an intense extra time, at the end of which the two teams were tied 3–3. The match was only decided during a penalty shootout in which Argentina edged past the French side.

Messi, Mbappe and the FIFA World Cup final were among the top social media trends last evening as people followed the match and searched for information about the players and teams.

The return of outdoor sports to center stage after two years of the pandemic has also fueled immense excitement around the Football World Cup.

Although India was not playing, interest in the Football World Cup ran high as people across the country remained glued to their TV sets through the tournament to cheer on their favorite players and teams.

In fact, according to Google’s “Year in Search 2022” report released earlier this month, FIFA World Cup was the third most searched topic in India.
