Not a fan of Faf du Plessis, didn’t see anything special under his captaincy: Shoaib Akhtar

new Delhi: Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has given a controversial statement on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis. In a YouTube video for Sportskeeda, Akhtar said that he is not a fan of du Plessis’ captaincy and it is difficult to say how far Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will go under the South African legend.

Virat Kohli stepped down as the captain of RCB ahead of this year’s IPL. After this, the captaincy of the franchise was handed over to Faf du Plessis, who played a key role in making Chennai Super Kings (CSK) the winners of IPL 2021.

Akhtar said, “Virat has given up the captaincy and du Plessis is now the captain of the team. So he will captain in his own way. I am not a big fan of du Plessis as I have not seen anything special in his captaincy.” ,

Terming Virat as an unlucky captain, Akhtar said Kohli’s successor has a lot to prove.

“Virat has been a very unfortunate captain. He gave his best for both India and RCB but it didn’t work out. After this, Faf now has a lot to prove. Often he is not that fast during his captaincy. He has been given the responsibility of captaining a big franchise, so let’s see if he can turn his fortunes around.”

“Du Plessis has played cricket for Chennai Super Kings for a very long time. He has a keen understanding of how things work. However, I don’t know how far Faf can go from here. If he does So salute them, but I’m worried.”

Du Plessis finished second in the list of highest run-scorers in IPL 2021. He scored 633 runs in 16 matches with a batting average of 45.21 with an impressive strike rate of 138.20.
