Lausanne: The IOC North Korea’s Tokyo Games no-show punished by suspending its National Olympic Committee until the end of 2022, Olympic chief Thomas Bacho announced on Wednesday.

Bach told a press: “The People’s Republic of Korea’s NOC was the only NOC not participating in the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The IOC’s Executive Board decided to suspend the NOC until the end of 2022 as a result of this unilateral decision. ” the seminar.
North Korea was one of only over 200 NOCs that did not participate in the delayed 2020 Games in Japan, and as a result broke the Olympic Charter.
His refusal came after he rejected all of the IOC’s proposals on coronavirus safety protocols.
Bach said the IOC would make “an appropriate decision in due course” if the North Korean athlete qualifies for Beijing.
With the suspension comes the permanent blocking of IOC support that was halted due to international sanctions.
And the poor isolated state that participated in the last Winter Games held across the Korean border in Pyeongchang in 2018 will miss out on any assistance from the IOC during its suspension.
