Non-professional course admission after class 12 result: Maharashtra minister

State Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant on Sunday said that the admission process for non-vocational courses will begin after the declaration of class XII results in Maharashtra. He said there were options to conduct CET for admission to non-technical courses or to conduct an admission process on the basis of class XII marks. “The class XII board exam has been cancelled, and we will decide whether to have CET or not only after the result is declared,” he said.

Samant, who interacted with teachers’ unions protesting the demand for recruitment in universities, said the state government has decided to fill 4,074 posts, and the process for 1,600 has already been completed. He said the process for the remaining posts was on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the file has been processed, and after the approval of Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, a government resolution will be issued soon. He said that the process of filling 700-750 more vacancies has also started, while a survey will be conducted to identify vacant teaching posts by 2020.

Hourly remuneration for teachers in undergraduate programs has been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 615 and for practicals from Rs 150 to Rs 250. For postgraduate courses (PG), it has been increased from Rs 600 to Rs 750, while for practicals it will be Rs 300 instead of Rs 250. The government will also soon fill up 121 vacant posts of librarians.
