Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, which will provide funds and resources for the installation of the tower, has urged the Noida Authority to provide a land parcel where an anti-smog gun can be installed.
Authority officials said the cost of the tower has been estimated at over Rs 2.40 crore. Officials said an area of ​​400 square meters has been identified in the greenbelt near Sector 16A for the project in consultation with BHEL.
People within a radial distance of 1 km from the tower are likely to benefit the most during the winter months, when the amount of dust particles in the air increases, officials said in Sector 15, 15A, 16 , 16A, 17 and 19 will also be able to breathe clean air. He said commuters using the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the DND Flyway would also benefit for a short period as they traverse the stretch.
The technology provided in the Anti-Smog Tower will control up to 80% of PM2 and PM105 particulates. Like an air conditioner, fans will absorb polluted air and the filter will clean out dust particles before the fresh air is circulated back into the environment.
The Authority and BHEL will share the operating cost equally. It is estimated that an amount between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 18 lakh would be required to run the anti smog tower.
