NOIDA: A 55-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping and killing the three-year-old granddaughter of a woman with whom he claimed to have an affair. Police said they consider the child to be an “obstacle in their marriage”.
The accused Hemant Singh is originally from Bulandshahr district. After being apprehended from Sector 88, he was produced in the court and sent to judicial custody. The girl’s grandmother has also been taken into custody for questioning.
In her complaint filed on December 24, the woman said that the girl had gone missing while playing outside her house. On December 28, the girl’s body was found in an under-construction building just 100 meters from her house. Police said that there were injury marks on many parts of his body. A medical examination confirmed that she was sexually assaulted and then murdered.
Thereafter, the police filed IPC sections 302 (murder), 201 (disappearance of evidence of offence), 376-AB (punishment for raping a woman under 12 years), 377 (unnatural offence) and POCSO sections. Added 5 and 6. Work.
“During investigation, it was learned that Singh often visited the child’s house. He was picked up for questioning and revealed that he was in a relationship with his grandmother and wanted to marry her. However, the woman had told Singh that she needed to take care of the child,” the DCP said.
The girl lived with her grandmother as her father is in jail for the past two years in a murder case while her mother lives in Badaun.
“The woman had promised Singh that she would marry the child’s father after his release from jail. On the day of the crime, he took the child to a secluded place, assaulted him and then killed him,” said Shukla, adding that Singh has a criminal history.
The DCP further said that the police is trying to ascertain whether the girl’s grandmother was also involved in the crime.
