Noida: Confederation of Residents’ Welfare Associations – Uttar Pradesh (Korwa-UP) plans to organize a national conference of residents’ bodies to discuss the conservation and supply of drinking water. the event will be held in Ghaziabad on 23 and 24 November.
The association has got the support of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and Minister of State Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Jal Shakti, is likely to be the chief guest at the conference.
CORWA-UP has also proposed the establishment of a National Water Authority To coordinate all matters relating to water conservation and pollution, rain water and domestic water drainage, piped water supply and matters relating to water corporations and Jal Kal Department.
“We will organize the 8th National Conference of RWAs on Drinking Water on 23rd and 24th November. For this we will invite Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat as the chief guest to inaugurate the conference,” said Pawan Kaushik, President, CORWA-UP.
Earlier such conferences were held in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi. “Our aim is to connect all the districts of Uttar Pradesh with residents’ bodies across the country,” said Moolendra Kumar Sharma, finance secretary, Korwa-UP.
PK Arya, Chief Advisor, CORWA-UP, said: “The time has come to think about water conservation and if water related problems can be seen through a single platform.”
