Aerotropolis is basically a metropolitan sub-region whose infrastructure, land use and economy are centered around an airport. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Monday announced a proposal to develop the area around Jewar airport in a meeting on the area’s Master Plan 2041.
Aerocity in Delhi has a large number of commercial spaces, Aerotropolis will cater to both residential and industrial needs and will have state-of-the-art infrastructure, a senior official said. “It will pass through Yamuna Expressway on the other side of the airport,” the official said.
In order to host international sporting events in the future, a proposal was also made to develop an “Olympic Park” Olympic Village“In the master plan. In addition, a golf course, a central business center and logistics center will also be part of the master plan to be executed by 2041,” the official said.
“There is no such place in Delhi-NCR. It will be a major sports center with the potential to host the Olympics and similar international events,” he said.
Mars Planning Engineering Services, the consultant assigned to prepare the detailed project report, also proposed a number of land uses (hospitality and industry) in the vicinity of the airport. Along with the industries, the authority also plans to build affordable houses for the workers in the vicinity of the industries.
All these future developments will be in the fields of Gautam Budh Nagar And Bulandshahr around the airport. The official said the land would be acquired once the project details are cleared.
YEIDA CEO Arun Veer Singh directed the consultant to incorporate concepts like zero-carbon footprint and smart city while developing the master plan. The construction of the upcoming airport is going on at a brisk pace and the first flight is scheduled to take place by 2024.
Notably, YEIDA has recently announced plans to develop a heritage circuit within a 30 km radius of the Noida International Airport.
The authority is planning to appoint the Indian Trust of Rural Heritage and Development (ITRHD) to prepare the DPRs for the work that can be done in the surrounding villages with a focus on local tradition, food and culture. The proposal will be put up for approval in the next meeting of the board.
