No relief to jailed Delhi minister Satyendar Jain, court rejects bail plea

New Delhi: A court here on Saturday rejected the bail plea of ​​Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who has been in Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody since May 31 in an alleged money laundering case. Special Judge Geetanjali Goel rejected the bail plea. The special CBI court in the national capital had on June 14 reserved its order on the bail application after hearing the arguments of the ED and defense counsel. A day earlier, the ED had extended the minister’s custody for two weeks.

On May 31, a day after Jain’s arrest, the same bench sent him to the agency’s custody till June 9, which was extended to five days.

On June 9, just after the court hearing, he was taken to a nearby hospital after complaining of uneasiness while leaving Rouse Avenue Court.

Minister taken to ED headquarters That’s when he felt uneasy outside the court and was eventually admitted to the hospital.

The CBI has accused Jain, his wife and others of committing an offense under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

On March 31, the ED temporarily attached immovable properties worth Rs 4.81 crore belonging to companies owned and controlled by the minister.

The ED on June 6 raided several locations of Jain, his wife and their associates who had either directly or indirectly assisted him or participated in money laundering processes. Cash worth Rs 2.85 crore and 133 gold coins weighing 1.80 kg were recovered during the raids.
