Heat wave conditions are declared in the plains when the temperature reaches 4.5 degrees above normal.

North India is not expected to get relief from the heat at the moment. The Meteorological Department (IMD) says that there is a possibility of heat wave in the next two days in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and North West MP. Heat wave conditions are declared in the plains when the temperature reaches 4.5 degrees above normal (40 degrees).

According to the Meteorological Department, heat wave has been recorded in most areas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West UP, North-West Rajasthan and North-West MP on Thursday and severe heat wave in isolated areas. According to the Meteorological Department, the condition of severe heat wave is declared when the temperature rises to 6.5 degrees above normal.

According to IMD, due to dry westerly, southwesterly winds from Pakistan to northwest India at low levels, warm winds are likely to move in isolated parts of northern states.

The Meteorological Department says that the temperature in the plains is reaching beyond 40 degrees for the last few days. Southwest Monsoon has covered the entire country except Haryana, Delhi, parts of Punjab, West Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh. Monsoon is not expected to advance in these remaining parts even in the next few days.
