No more evidence to share on corruption charges against Anil Deshmukh: Param Bir Singh

An affidavit has been submitted before an inquiry commission by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh to probe corruption charges against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. He has no further evidence to share for Deshmukh’s role in corruption cases, PTI reported.

Param Bir Singh wrote an 8-page letter to Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray in April 2021, alleging that former minister Anil Deshmukh – with the help of API Sachin Vaze – extorted Rs 100 crore from bars, restaurants etc. Collects Rs. It is now being said from Singh that apart from the letter written to the CM, he has no other evidence to provide.

In March 2021, the Maharashtra government set up a one-man commission to investigate Singh’s allegations against Deshmukh. It is worth noting that four cases of extortion are also registered against Parambir Singh, out of which two FIRs are registered on non-bailable offences. Singh is absconding since then and has not appeared for cross-examination.

The commission had imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Singh in June and Rs 25,000 on two other occasions.

Special Public Prosecutor in the case, Shishir Hire, appearing for the Commission of Inquiry, said, “Param Bir Singh has refused to give any evidence other than the letter which he had initially sent to the Chief Minister and the Home Minister. “

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are probing Anil Deshmukh in these cases.

The ED had arrested Deshmukh on Monday in a money laundering case. He was remanded in ED custody till November 6 on Tuesday.
