The central government has made it clear that it will not get the OBC castes counted in the census. The Center has said in an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court that such a census is not practical. The Center has filed this affidavit in response to a petition by the Maharashtra government. The Center has said that the Socio Economic and Caste Census (SECC) conducted in 2011 cannot be termed as OBC census.
