Sukhpal Khaira is lodged in Patiala Jail.
Congress leader Sukhpal Khaira will have to remain in jail for now. In the hearing held through video conferencing on Thursday, the Mohali court has extended his judicial remand. Khaira will now have to remain in Patiala Jail till December 16.
Khaira was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case. He was questioned by the ED after taking 7-day remand from the court. After this, he was sent to jail in judicial custody by the court. Khaira’s lawyers argued for bail before the court in this case. While being an MLA, Khaira left the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the Congress under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh.
Notice issued to ED
The Punjab Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the petition of Congress leader Sukhpal Khaira. Khaira challenged the arrest in the High Court. Now HC has asked ED about the need to arrest Sukhpal Khaira. In the HC, Sukhpal Khaira argued that whenever the ED called him for questioning, he went there. He never violated ED summons. When he went to appear for the 11th time, he was arrested from Chandigarh.

Arrest made in money laundering and drug case
Sukhpal Khaira, who left AAP and joined Congress, was arrested by the ED in the money laundering and Fazilka drug case. He is accused of constant conversation with the kingpin of the Fazilka drug case. At the same time, there is an allegation of bringing about one lakh dollars of funds from America. However, Khaira said that he is not named in the Fazilka drug case. There is a stay of the Supreme Court on this matter. At the same time, US dollars were received by Arvind Kejriwal. He went to USA for a party sponsored event. They have nothing to do with it.
Khaira got the support of the CM, not the party
Jailed Sukhpal Khaira did not get the support of the Congress party. However, a few days ago, CM Charanjit Channi had definitely reached his house.
