Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has once again raised the issue of women’s safety in cyber space with IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. Chaturvedi in a letter to Vaishnav on Sunday expressed his dismay and claimed that despite discussions on the issue last month, no action or action was taken against some websites, including a web application called ‘Sully Deals’. in which defamatory material has been posted. Ministry sources said that the government has already taken action against this website and both the app and the YouTube channel have been blocked. He said that the Special Cell of Delhi Police registered an FIR on 7 July against unknown persons for terminating the YouTube channel, and another FIR was registered on 9 July before the MP wrote the letter.
Chaturvedi had written a similar letter to Vaishnav on August 30, in which he said that the website puts up content to “degrade and humiliate women of a particular community”. Chaturvedi asked the central government to take strict and immediate action as it is the responsibility of the government to protect the dignity of women.
In July, photos of some women appeared on the web app, containing the phrase “Sully Deal of the Day”, indicating that these women were up for sale.
