Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has suspended another auditor in the bogus contract scam. A departmental inquiry (DE) is likely to be initiated against eight more officers and employees.
Municipal commissioner Radhakrishnan B on Friday suspended Shobha Gandre. The number of employees suspended in the scam has now gone up to seven. Gandre is the fourth from the Department of Accounts and Finance to face suspension. Earlier, an accounts officer and two auditors were suspended.
The other three suspended employees were from the General Administration Department (GAD), Health (Medical) Department and the Projects Department.
An NMC official told TOI that Gandre was among the eight officers and employees who were served show cause notices after the civic chief accepted the recommendations of the inquiry report submitted by a committee headed by additional municipal commissioner Deepak Kumar Meena. Was. “Gandre was cleared to pay for fictitious contracts drawn up by the main accused – contractor Padmakar ‘Kolba’ Sakode. Gandre has therefore been suspended.
Gandre was working as an assistant superintendent in the Nehru Nagar zone of NMC.

The NMC official also said that approval has been given to initiate DEs against seven other officers and employees – former Chief Medical Officer Dr Sanjay Chilkar who filed a police complaint in the matter, Chief Medical Officer Dr Narendra Bahirwar, retired Deputy Commissioner Dr Pradeep Dasarwar, Clerk Suresh Shivankar, Sunita Sahu, Sunita Patil and former Chief Accounts and Finance Officer Hemant Thackeray. The number of officers and employees facing DE increased to 19.
The action recommended by the committee headed by ruling party leader Avinash Thackeray is pending. Minutes of the meeting of the general body will be taken after approval.
