Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday refused to engage in an issue with NCP president Sharad Pawar, who has created a flutter with his contradictory stand on the opposition’s demand for a JPC probe into the allegations against the Adani group.

The top JD(U) leader, whose party has been supporting the demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe in Parliament, however, did not seem impressed by the Maratha Bahubali’s preference for a probe by a “Supreme Court-appointed committee”.

“I came to know about it from the media”, quipped the Bihar CM when asked about the stand adopted by Pawar, whom he met last year as part of efforts to galvanize parties opposed to the BJP.

“It is for him (Pawar) to elaborate on what he has said. Different people have different views,” Kumar said. In news for the ruckus on Adani issue during the recently held Parliament session.

In an interview with NDTV, Pawar came out in support of the Adani Group and criticized the narrative surrounding US-based Hindenburg Research’s report on the group.

Pawar said he supported a Supreme Court committee to probe the allegations against the Adani group, as the ruling party would have a majority in the JPC by virtue of numbers in Parliament and this would cast doubt on such an investigation.

The Adani Group has denied allegations of fraud and manipulation leveled against its companies by Hindenburg Research, which led to an unprecedented stock crash.

Kumar, who attended an Iftar organized by his party here, was also asked about the recent communal riots in Sasaram and Biharsharif towns.

“Administrative machinery is working at both the places. Help and relief will be provided to those who have suffered any loss,” Kumar said.
