Nitish Kumar meets Rahul Gandhi in Delhi, to also meet other opposition leaders | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi on Monday. The two are learnt to have discussed the current political situation in the country and ways to ensure opposition unity.
Kumar is also set to meet other leaders from oppoisition parties, in what is seen as an effort to project a united front against the BJP.
This comes closely on the heels of Kumar ending his party JD(U)’s alliance with the BJP. The move resulted in the NDA government falling in Bihar. However Nitish returned as chief minister in the new coalition comprising RJD, JD(U), Congress, Left parties and HAM.
Nitish Kumar is accompanied by his party’s national president Lalan Singh, and state ministers Sanjay Jha and Ashok Chaudhary.
Nitish is being seen in some quarters as a likely face of opposition unity for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Sources said that Nitish Kumar will meet Kejriwal, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Left party leaders D Raja and Sitaram Yechury and others in Delhi on Tuesday. On Wednesday, he will meet the President and Vice President.
Sources also said that Nitish Kumar will soon visit Maharashtra, Haryana and Karnataka as well to meet the leaders in the opposition camp. He is likely to meet Om Prakash Chautala, and Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Haryana, Maharashtra’s former CM Uddhav Thackeray and Pawar, and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and his son and former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy.
