Patna: Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar held on Wednesday aerial survey The District Magistrates (DMs) of the flood-affected areas along the banks of river Ganga and 12 districts located on the banks of the river were asked to take all necessary steps to meet the challenges of the impending floods.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister visited various places on the banks of river Ganga in Patna and Vaishali districts by road to take stock of the rising trend of water level in the river.

After inspecting the rising water level at various places, Nitish asked the officials, especially the DMs of the 12 riverine districts, to make all necessary preparations keeping in mind the impact of flood waters from the Ganga in 2016.
In 2016, the CM said, the flood waters from the Ganges had spread to the low-lying and diara areas of 12 districts due to a large rise in the water level in the Ganges.
The river districts to be affected in 2016 are Buxar, Bhojpur, Saran, Vaishali, Patna, Samastipur, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Munger, Bhagalpur, Khagaria and Katihar.
Immediately after taking stock of the increasing trend of water in the Ganga river, Nitish held an emergency meeting with the DMs of 12 riverine districts through video conferencing and issued necessary instructions to them.
In view of the rising water level in the Ganga, Nitish asked all the 12 DMs to always be in alert mode. He also asked the DM to stay in touch with the flood affected people and provide all possible help to the affected families.
The DM was also asked to provide all necessary facilities in the relief camps as per the standard operating procedures.drunkerDuring the meeting, Nitish told the DM, ‘Arrange fodder for the animals in all the relief camps.
The Chief Minister further informed that the State Government has made a provision of payment of Rs 15,000 for the birth of a female child in the flood relief camp and Rs 10,000 for the birth of a male child in the relief camp. He asked the DMs to ensure the immediate payment of this amount to the parents immediately after the birth of the child in any flood relief camp.
