Budget 2023: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke exclusively at the program ‘India TV Samvad Budget 2023’ in the national capital on Friday (February 3).
The Finance Minister today faced some tough questions from India TV Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma in a special episode of ‘Aap Ki Adalat’.
When asked about the color of their saris being similar to ‘currency notes’, FM Sitharaman said, “Similar questions related to dress have been asked to ‘male’ finance ministers as well?”.
He said that being a woman minister, should I take it positively or negatively, I have no idea about it.
“Suppose a male finance minister presenting the budget wearing a black suit or jacket will be asked a similar question. Don’t look at my saree, hair or its colour, but look at my budget.” Nirmala Sitharaman said today.

- This saree was designed by Kasuti expert Arati Hiremath of Narayanpur in Dharwad.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Dharwad MP Prahlad Joshi had told Nirmala Sitharaman about the uniqueness of Ilkal saree and Kasuti embroidery at a function a few months back.
Aarti said that the Dharwad district administration had placed an order for two sarees in January 2023 – one red and one blue.
Dharwad DC Guru Dutt Hegde said, “While we wanted to present sarees to the Finance Minister, impressed by the traditional motifs used in Kasuti, she bought both, which she wore today.”
