A new subject added this year

Under this ranking in 2022 there were four categories namely colleges, universities, research institutes, and seven subject domains: engineering, management, pharmacy, law, medicine, architecture and dentistry. This year NIRF has added a new theme – Agriculture and Allied Sectors. In addition, the name of the architecture discipline has been changed to ‘Architecture and Planning’.

Top-10 University

According to the NIRF ranking 2023, the top university in the country is the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. On the other hand, the name of Jawaharlal Nehru University comes. After this, Jamia Millia Islamia and Jadavpur University are at number three and four. While Banaras Hindu University is at number 5. The 6th position has been given to Manipal Academy of Higher Education.

There is Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham at the 7th place. Vellore Institute of Technology has been ranked 8th and Aligarh Muslim University has been ranked 9th in the NIRF ranking. And the 10th position in the top 10 list has been given to the University of Hyderabad.

8th edition released this year

The NIRF ranking was started in the year 2016 and this is its 8th edition. Where in the year 2016, 3500 institutes participated in the ranking. At the same time, this year 8,686 institutes have participated in the ranking.

The ranking of NIRF is decided on different parameters. In this, points are given to institutions on the basis of Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcome, Outreach and Inclusivity and Perception.

Minister of State for Education and External Affairs released this edition

NIRF was approved by MHRD and was launched by the Minister of Human Resource Development on 29th September, 2015. This year, the 8th edition of the ranking was released by Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State for Education and External Affairs.
