Nine Russian coronavirus patients die after malfunctioning oxygen supply – Times of India

MOSCOW: Nine coronavirus patients died at a Russian hospital in the southern city vladikavkaz Russian news agencies reported on Monday that supplies to an intensive care ward were cut after an oxygen pipe went underground.
“Nine patients of coronavirus died due to lack of oxygen,” TASS The news agency quoted the local health ministry as saying.
“A total of 71 people were in intensive care, not all (receiving) oxygen supplies,” TASS quoted the ministry as saying.
Regional authorities have agreed with the Defense Ministry to supply oxygen to all hospitals in the city from the city of Mozdok, about 80 kilometers (50 mi) north of Vladikavkaz. Riya Reported.
“There was an explosion in the oxygen pipe from the reservoir, which is underground, and the oxygen supply has been cut off,” citing the acting head of the North Ossetia region, where Vladikavkaz is located. RIA News Agency as saying.
“Medical staff have started connecting patients on ventilators to oxygen tanks. Oxygen tanks have started coming in,” said the acting chief of North Ossetia Sergei Manialo Said.
