Nimrit Ahluwalia made her television debut with Colors TV’s Choti Sarrdaarni. However, the actress had to say goodbye to the show due to health reasons. Now, in a recent conversation with Hindustan Times, she opened up about her break from the debut show and her struggle with a mental health condition. Nimrit told readers that taking a 40-day break was a necessity rather than an option for him.
Nimrit’s focus on his mental health and taking breaks in the middle of the show was said to be a bold move by a newcomer. Nimrat recalled that people did not understand his condition due to lack of awareness related to mental health. He further added that the words like anxiety and depression are known to all, but he was diagnosed with “brain burnout”.
Brain burnout is a state of emotional, physical and mental exhaustion due to excessive and prolonged stress. It usually occurs when a person feels overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted and unable to meet constant demands.
Nimrat mentioned that everyone was confused about her situation and made the impression that something was wrong in her personal life. The actress told the news portal that doctors told her that she was not in a working condition. She claims that this was not an option but a necessity for her.
Nimrat told that she is such a person who never backs down from hard work. “When you come from a middle-class family, working hard is in your DNA. (But) your identity cannot be your work alone. You cannot be a machine or a puppet working on a loop,” she said.
She further revealed that it was difficult for her to understand it too. “It was a process for me to understand (it). When I sat down with my psychiatrist, I shared what I felt, and he explained to me, and then I started reading about it. I realized that many people have faced this situation at some point in their lives.”
These days Nimrat is spending quality time with her brother in America. The show, Choti Sarrdaarni ended in June this year.
