Nihang Jathebandis sitting on the Singhu border of Sonipat have challenged the Haryana Police in connection with the murder of Lakhveer Singh here two days ago. After the surrender of two Nihangs Bhagwant Singh and Govindpreet Singh on Saturday night, the Nihangs made it clear that now they will not surrender any of their companions. The Nihangs warned the Sonipat police-administration that now if there is talk of arresting any other Nihang, then they will also get the four of their companions who have surrendered in this case.
Before the surrender of Bhagwant Singh and Govindpreet Singh on the Singhu border, Nihang Baba Raja Ram Singh said, ‘The administration should not ask for more arrests from us now. If the police officers arrested any hor nu karna di gall kitti taam jehde chaar bande (man) are inside, assi ohnan nu vee out kaddh lyavange.’ Earlier on Saturday evening, all the Nihang Jathebandis sitting on the Singhu border had a meeting and discussed the matter. After that Baba Amandeep Singh reached Baba Ram Singh with both the surrendered Nihangas Bhagwant Singh and Govindpreet.
Ravi Kumar, in-charge of Kundli police station, who came to pick up both the Nihangs, talked to Baba Amandeep Singh, Baba Ram Singh and the heads of other Nihang gangs here. During this, Baba Amandeep Singh once again said that Baba Raja Ram Singh has already made it clear that those who defame the Guru Granth Sahib will get the same punishment and Nihang Jathebandis will not explain to anyone on this issue.
Baba Raja Ram Singh said – forced to take law in his hands
Before the surrender of Nihang Bhagwant Singh and Govindpreet Singh, Nihang Jathebandi chief Baba Raja Ram Singh said, “Since 2015, incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib have increased in Punjab and other states. Anyone accounted for them? Seeing the situation, our comrades were compelled to punish those who committed sacrilege. If we had got justice from 2015 till now, then law would not have to be taken in our hands. Whatever had to be done, had to be done seeing the circumstances. If BJP crushes the farmers then it is fine according to the law and if we give any punishment then questions of law arise on it. It will not work.’
Appeal not to link the matter with caste
On the brutal murder of Lakhvir Singh, Baba Ram Singh said that he was evil and was given the right punishment. It is not known how many more scandals he does. Now questions are being raised on us that we killed a poor or low caste person. He was evil and sinner. It should not be associated with any caste or religion.
Baba Amandeep bluntly – will not surrender or arrest any more
Baba Amandeep Singh bluntly said, if the police-administration asks for more arrests, then they should make their preparations. If we talk about arresting or surrendering any other Nihang in this matter, then we will not allow even four of our comrades to stay inside. Right now we are cooperating with the police-administration but it does not mean that we will tolerate any kind of excesses from them.
Bhagwant said: Will do it again
Bhagwant Singh, one of the two Nihangs who surrendered on Saturday night at the Kundli border, said that what was done to Lakhveer was right. Whoever insults the word Guru, they will be punished like this. The one who commits dishonesty will have the same result. Whatever the sect is doing and will continue to do so, that is right.
Mayawati’s criticism
On being questioned by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on the murder of Lakhvir Singh, Nihang Baba Ram Singh said that BSP has become a party of Brahmins. Now he has nothing to do with Dalits. All this is a joke of BJP itself. BSP General Secretary Satish Mishra is a Brahmin and in today’s date he is the BSP. Baba Ram Singh also held the Shiromani Akali Dal responsible for the sacrilege of the Guru.
